Jamsetji Tata Trust (JTT)
The Jamsetji Tata Trust (JTT) is providing financial support for a project aimed at crafting village institutions to strengthen local governance of natural resources to impact improved agriculture, animal husbandry and other related livelihoods. Titled “Decentralised Governance of Natural Resources in Rainfed Areas”, the project is being implemented in Madanapalle - Andhra Pradesh, Chintamani- Karnataka , Angul - Orissa and Bhilwara- Rajasthan. Jamsetji Tata Trust also supports the project on Diversion Based Irrigation System in Koraput- Orissa and Udaipur- Rajasthan.
Omidyar Network
Omidyar Network is supporting FES to scale its operations and expand
critical programs, as well as advocate for policies and offer new
programs that will enable 1.5 million people to access, conserve and
share community lands, while also restoring natural resources in these
areas. Omidyar Network is also supporting FES in its preparations
towards the upcoming IASC2011 Conference in Hyderabad, Jan 10-14 /
2011.
National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD)
NABARD is supporting watershed development in areas spread across several locations, namely Angul and Koraput - Orissa, Chintamani - Karnataka, Madanapalle - Andhra Pradesh, Dahod and Anand - Gujarat, Pratapgarh and Udaipur - Rajasthan. Through arrangements such as co-sharing in certain areas, and through programmes such as Watershed Development Programmes, Distress Districts Programmes, Backward Block Development Programmes and the Indo German Watershed Development Programme (IGWDP) in some, the various interventions are geared towards improving the health of the natural environment and thereby increasing the availability of water, boosting agricultural productivity and enhancing rural livelihoods in a particular region.
ITC- Sunehra Kal Initiative
As part of an innovative arrangement in the nature of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) between the Government of Rajasthan and ITC-RDT, FES has been designated as the implementing agency to implement watershed development programmes in Bhilwara- Rajathan. Watershed Development Projects are also being supported under the ITC- Sunehra Kal initiative in the locations of Shajapur and Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh.
Concern Worldwide
Concern worldwide is supporting the implementation of two projects in the state of Orissa. The first, titled “Local Visions for Development” is being implemented in Koraput with an overarching objective of facilitating the restoration of the ecological balance in the degraded and fragile ecosystems, improving rural livelihoods and strengthening community based natural resource management in the tribal regions of South Orissa. The second, titled ‘Energising NREGA for Better Landscape Planning and Management in Orissa’ aspires to capacitate the key stakeholders of NREGS for community based land use planning & effective implementation of the programme.
Concern Worldwide is also supporting FES in its preparations towards the upcoming IASC2011 Conference in Hyderabad, Jan 10-14 / 2011.
Ford Foundation
Ford Foundation is supporting an initiative of a consortium of organizations – the Rainfed Livestock Network, which aims to synthesize lessons for policy advocacy and programmatic action for livestock development in rain fed areas. Ford Foundation is also supporting a project titled “Facilitating Sustainable Livelihoods with an Ecological Perspective through the Mechanism of NREGA in the State of Rajasthan”, being implemented with the Society for Promotion of Wastelands Development (SPWD) and the Institute of Development Studies, Jaipur (IDS-J), in the districts of Udaipur and Bhilwara.
Sir Ratan Tata Trust (SRTT)
Through Collectives for Integrated Livelihood Initiatives (CInI), the Sir Ratan Tata Trust (SRTT) is supporting the implementation of a project titled ‘Better Natural Resource Management and Governance in Mandla District, Madhya Pradesh.’ The project aims to imaginatively extend the scope of application of the NREGA to nature conservation and measures aimed at ecological restoration along with improving the living conditions of the poor. In collaboration with SRTT-CiNI-ICRISAT, a pilot project for farm based livelihoods support is also underway.
Sir Ratan Tata Trust is also supporting the implementation of a project titled ‘Restoration of Shelterbelt in Coastal Regions of Anand & Ahmedabad Districts of Gujarat’ through the Coastal Salinity Prevention Cell (CSPC), aimed at reducing the impact of tidal ingress and salt-laden winds on farmlands and initiating a process of restoration through revegetation, soil and moisture conservation measures and strengthening community institutions for governance of natural resources.
Royal Bank of Scotland Foundation
The Royal Bank of Scotland Foundation is backing a project titled ‘Reconciling Biodiversity Conservation with Local Livelihoods’, which is geared towards conservation of the biodiversity rich region of Mandla, Madhya Pradesh through pro-active community initiatives.
Madhya Pradesh Rural Livelihoods Programme (MPRLP)
In an innovative arrangement proposed up by the Government of Madhya Pradesh to harness the strengths of Non Government Organisations, the district administration of Mandla has invited FES to strengthen local governance institutions for the effective implementation of rural employment guarantee schemes for watershed development activities.
International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI)
International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) is supporting a project on ‘Fodder Innovation’ in the district of Bhilwara, with an overall objective to strengthen the capacity, especially of the rural poor, to innovate towards alleviating fodder and feed scarcity and leading to improved livelihoods.
Water and sanitation management organization (WASMO)
Watershed and Sanitation Management Organization (WASMO), along with the Coastal Salinity Prevention Cell (CSPC), is supporting a project in Khambhat Taluka of Anand district in Gujarat under the Coastal Area Development Programme (CADP). The project works towards drinking water security and habitat improvement by empowering communities to manage their local water sources, drinking water supply and environmental sanitation.
Irrigation and Command Area Development (I&CAD) Department
In the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, FES is being supported by the Irrigation and Command Area Development (I&CAD) Department to facilitate the implementation of the Andhra Pradesh Community Based Tank Management Project (APCBTMP) - a collaboration between the World Bank and Government of Andhra Pradesh.
Rufford Small Grant Programme
The Rufford Small Grant Programme is supporting a project for ‘Assessing the possibilities of restoring the Habitat and Population of the Great Indian Bustard in Sokaliya area of Ajmer District, Rajasthan’.
Central Soil and Water Conservation Research and Training Institute (CSWRTI)
In our efforts to identify viable alternatives to address the threat posed by expanding ravines, we have initiated collaboration with Central Soil and Water Conservation Research and Training Institute (CSWCRTI) for the cultivation of bamboo on a pilot scale to assess the extent of their role in the reduction of soil loss, under the National Bamboo Mission.
